How to make a donation with your local Currency

VERY KIND OF YOU

Making a donation to The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is a thoughtful decision. Thanks to you and kind donors around the world, your gift will be used to ameliorate lives in over 200 countries, especially where help is needed the most.

HAVE YOU TRIED GIVING ONLINE?

Donating online is the most efficient way of giving and requires fewer steps. However, due to problems like internet connectivity and bank card issues, using your local currency may become handy. Your donation can support Annual Fund, Polio Fund, Endowment Fund or other approved funds.

LOCAL CURRENCY

Whether you choose offline USSD transfer, or online cash transfer or even Quickteller, any method is accepted, provided that you can obtain an alert or a receipt after the transfer (very important).

STEP 1: CHECK THE CURRENT EXCHANGE RATE

The official currency of The Rotary Foundation is United States Dollars (USD). To know the equivalence in your local currency, visit https://my.rotary.org/exchange-rates as illustrated below:
When the page opens, scroll down and then click on the current month:
After clicking, a document will be downloaded to your device. Always open the document to confirm that you have downloaded the correct month. Then locate your country and check for the exchange rate.
The exchange rate is visible in the column labelled Currency Per US $1.00. As you can see above, for May 2020; the exchange rate is 390.00 Naira for 1 dollar in Nigeria, 1.40 CAD for 1 dollar in Canada and 15.75 EGP for 1 dollar in Egypt. Can you check the exchange rate for Brazil?

STEP 2: CALCULATE YOUR DONATION

Please note that you cannot donate less than 5 Dollars for an individual, using bank transfer. To calculate your donation, simply multiply the desired dollars by the exchange rate of the current month. For example, if we use the exchange rate of 390.00 Naira for 1 dollar (which may not be the same rate for this month), we have the following:

5 Dollars = 5 x 390 =  1,950 Naira
This means that you will transfer 1,950 Naira to the Bank Account in Nigeria.

13 Dollars = 13 x 390 = 4,940 Naira
So 4,940 Naira will be transferred to the Bank Account in Nigeria.

How much Naira will you transfer for 10 Dollars?
Recall that the minimum amount for an individual donation is 5 USD. If a donor wishes to give below 5 USD, online method can be used. Check here for the current exchange rate: https://my.rotary.org/exchange-rates

STEP 3: MAKE THE CASH TRANSFER

Now that you know the exact amount in your local currency, go ahead and make the cash transfer using any method of your choice. The receipt (or alert) is VERY IMPORTANT. In Nigeria, you can use the following bank account:

Zenith Bank Plc
Account Number: 1223742964
Account Name: Rotary International District 9125 (Foundation)

If you are asked for a Transfer reference or Transfer comment, feel free to use your Rotary ID (or full name). Also, if the cash transfer was not made from your personal account, ensure that you obtain the receipt of payment from the sender.
Similarly, if you are unable to transfer to any of the bank accounts listed above, please send an email to your regional office to get other bank accounts. Click here to obtain the appropriate email address.

STEP 4: FILL THE CONTRIBUTION FORM

The Contribution form helps Rotary to know how to handle your cash transfer. To get this form, visit https://rotary.org/give.
On this page, scroll down until you can see Giving forms. If the donation is for one person, then click as shown below:
If the donation is for two or more members of your club, then scroll down further and click on Multiple Donor form. Feel free to download additional Multiple Donor forms if you are donating for more than 20 club members.
Next, open the Contribution form and fill it carefully. If you cannot fill this form on your device, you can try online pdf fillers like DocFly or Sejda PDF. You can also print the form, fill it with a pen and scan it back to your device. Here are tips for filling the contribution form of an Individual Donor:
You can get the Rotary ID numberClub ID number and District number from the Club president or you can request for them via email at data@rotary.org. Similarly, you can obtain your Postal Code online (Click here).

For a club donation, the minimum amount per member is 5 USD (with effect from 1st May 2021). If a club member wishes to donate below 5 USD, only online method can be used. Here are tips for filling the Multiple Donor Form:
